Some memories of the Jerry Lee Lewis Tribute … A fundraiser held at the Astor Theatre, Mt Lawley on 26th July 2009.

Helen Major, roving reporter extraordinaire captured these thoughts from some of the theatre patrons …

Coming through the doors at lot of people were clearly excited and really looking forward to the day. “The outfits are gorgeous!” said one lady from the RnR Record Collectors, “It’s really exciting.”

Young Matt Watts was putting his pocket money to good use. Asked if he planned on dancing, he replied “Of course! Do you think I came all this way just to watch a movie?”

more photos »

Julia and Mary were intent on a great girls’ day out. A veteran of dance, Julia has done it all from the Twist to square dancing to flamenco and more! Winning prizes in her younger years, Julia was excited at the thought of re-living some highlights at the PNF Astor extravaganza.

more photos »

Billie Jean Bradley, gorgeous young model with the Catherine Ruze agency, brought her mum along to enjoy an afternoon of fabulous rock’n’roll. “I just LOVE Jerry Lee Lewis”, she said.

more photos »

Ingrid Laudzevics took the opportunity to catch up with long-lost friend Peter Stone. Many years ago they used to do theatre together in Port Hedland. Ingrid’s mum Merlene also got to catch up Peter’s mum!

PNF welcomes the newest Rock’n'Roll dance school to Perth. Run by festival sponsors Kev and Trish Penny, RockOn promises a bonanza of fun and excitement in the Hills area.

Just to show that you’re in good hands I asked Kevin to share a little of their background in the Perth Rock’n'Roll scene. In fact, they’ve been dancing already for over 10 years . . .

“We have competed locally and interstate.

We Dance mostly 6 step Rock N Roll, although we also can do Rockabilly, Jive, West Coast Swing and Cha Cha. At last count we’ve been instructed by 14 different teachers over the years; some from the Eastern States.

Trish and I have picked the eyes out of all the best that these teachers have given us, then formed a curriculum to teach others that is both informative yet great fun…. We are willing to teach our students from the basics right up to performing Aerials and competition dancing.

Dancing is, and has been, a major part of our lives in the past few years and we both support it in whatever way we possibly can. We are keen and dedicated teachers of this our sport, and wish to promote it throughout Perth as one of the best things a person can do in their lifetime. Dance !! ”

Businesses orientated towards the nostalgia industry are encouraged to participate in the Festial by running a stall at our Retro Market.

If this interests you, these FAQ’s will answer some of the questions you may have. For more information please phone Loretta, our secretary on 0419 046 038 or email loretta.santini@westernpower.com.au

How much will it cost?

There is no charge by Perth Nostalgic Festival , however a stall licence fee of $60 is a charged by the South Perth Council.

Who do I pay this to?

The payment must be made in person at the council offices, cnr Sandgate St & South Terrace in South Perth. For more on the council’s requirements contact their events coordinator Peter Roaen. Phone 0419 094 391 or email peterr@southperth.wa.gov.au

What restrictions are there?

We are bound by the guidelines of the South Perth Fiesta. This is orientated towards family style fun and values. There can be no alcohol present or products deemed too risque. Also, we would prefer businesses that align with the nostalgia theme. However, if you have something of value to offer please conatct Loretta anyway as this will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

What do I get for the $60 ?

The council will provide large 5.3m x 5.3m market umbrellas which can accomodate up to 4 stall holders. They can also provide a tressle table and 2 plastic chairs per stall holder. Just make your needs known when you lodge the application form.

There will be NO electricity provided to stall holders.

I have my own table and shelter. Can I use them instead?

Yes. The council will require full details of the size and style. A photo will help to streamline the approval process. There is a limit of 3m x 3m in size.

But my arrangement is much bigger. Can I still take part?

For anything larger than 3×3m requires a “Building Permit”. This costs $100. Get the application and further info directly from Peter Roaen at the council.

What insurances are necessary?

The council will want to see a copy of your public liability insurance. If you do not carry your own public liability you may be covered under the Perth Nostalgia Festival. For this to work you must register as a PNF supporter at the Supporter Sign-up Page and give us all your details.

What else do I need to know?

You can learn more by reading through the Stall Holder Application Form. This opens up as a word document. Just save it to your hard drive and submit your completed copy to the council.

We also invite ALL stall holders to register as PNF Supporters. It improves our record keeping and ensures you will never miss out on any vital communications. You can read about all the benefits here.
